St. Patrick's Parade - 2008
Our St. Patrick's Parade is planned for Sunday 16th March 2008 - for details of this event see below right. Following the Parade this year we are making a donation to The Jessie May Trust - Charity No. 1086048. We would welcome suggestions from our members on the Charity to support next year.

Aims & Objects of the Bristol St. Patrick's Parade Society Ltd.:
To arrange and organize an annual St. Patrick's Parade and associated events, on or about St. Patrick's Day
to celebrate the day.

Brief History of the Bristol St. Patrick's Parade Society Ltd.
The B S P P S Ltd. was formed in 2006; the Parade activities were administered by the BIS from 2000 to 2006, it was agreed at a BIS meeting that as the Parade and associated activities were gaining momentum, the setting up of a separate society, limited by guarantee was the appropriate solution.

St. Patrick’s Parade 2008
St. Patrick's Parade - Sunday 16th March 2008 Timetable & Route as follows:-
1 12 Noon - assemble at the rear of St. Nicholas of Tolentino church, Lawford's Gate.
2 12.30 - Commence parade, moving off to the following route:- Lawford's Gate, past Trinity Road Police Station into West Street, Old Market, past Castle Green, Castle Street, Newgate, turning right into Union Street, down Rupert Street to the Centre - (Colston's Ave. & St. Augustine's Pde.). Proceeding up Park Street to the Council House/College Green, finishing at 13.40 approx.
3 Display by the Avon Glen Pipe Band together with an address by the Lord Mayor or his Representative.
4 Parade disperses at approx. 14.20

The Council House will be the Venue for Music &Entertainment which is scheduled to commence at approx. 14.45 and finishing at 18.00. Music by : Black Friday and The Somerset Paddies. Entry - Pay - on - the - door - £7.00, under 16's Free. Irish Dancers, Raffle and Bar, refreshments available to buy. This year supporting The Jessie May Trust.

BISBSPPS News: Following last year's Parade, a Presentation from the BIS/BSPPS, of inscribed Bristol Blue Glass Salvers was made to Ann Loughlin and to Mary McSweeny in recognition of each of their outstanding contributions to the Irish Community in Bristol over many years. Sadly Ann Loughlin passed away on 7th May 2007; she is missed by all of us who knew her.
